Fashion Week Live

{ Published on   16 March 2007  }

I know I don’t have to tell you whose backside THIS is.

First let me say that the SFluxe editor has never been a fan of fashion shows one has to pay to see. I’m old. I come from an age when the fashion show was just part of doing business. You go to it because the designer or the store is expecting you to buy something, so of course it should be free. When in the late ’90s the fashion show became an entertainment event, I went to a few but was never able to get over my cynicism and haven’t gone since.

Well, it looks like I really missed something last night!

Fashion Week Live has received nothing but rave reviews by those who went.

Sarah Granger of Silicon Valley Moms Blog wrote that it “measured-up to all of the glamorous hype and advertising.”

“Bright lights, cameras galore, loud, booming 80’s music remixed with a deep bass dance undertone, and Fort Mason became home to a thundering, flattering bazaar of fall’s most glittering fashion designs,” wrote Granger, who noticed Vanessa Getty and Karen Caldwell in the audience (“my personal choice for best dressed woman in 2006″.)

The Stylehive called it “larger-than-life” and posted some video of it at Youtube.

Karen Bard of Splendora Blog said that the “impecabbly produced” event was a “hot scene” and admitted that the vision of Tyson Beckford on the runway “will be burned into our collective memories 4-ever. ”

FabSugar wrote that “It was a blast! While the runway show was the main thrill, the pre-party and goodie bag were added bonuses. ”

Finally, a breathless Dino Ray Ramos of InsideBayArea.com (he took the photo above of She Who Needs No Name) wrote that “the whole event was a sartorial blur – I was too excited to see everything and a bit overwhelmed.”

Fashion Week Live has raised the bar for fashion shows in San Francisco. People are already saying they can’t wait to see what it’s like next year. (Quite a challenge for the Macy’s Passport people!)
