Living Well in San Francisco

Sea Cliff Beauty

“Tear down that bitch of a bearing wall, and put a window where it ought to be!” — from “Mommie Dearest.”

Joan Crawford may not have won any awards for mothering, but wow, did she ever speak the truth when it came to windows. Here is a prime example of a window where a window ought to be. And not just any window, either — notice that beautiful arch. Sublime!

Surprisingly, this view is not from a home in Malibu, but is right here in San Francisco. The Sea Cliff home at 610 El Camino Del Mar may need some work done (what home from 1929 wouldn’t?), but it has a winning combination of great history (designed by Albert Farr), great design, and a really great location. Oh, and it has an indoor pool with a view! Listed by Joseph Moore at Alain Pinel, it has never been on the market before. The asking price — $6.2 million.
