My plans for the weekend? Reading Simon Doonan’s new book “Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fabulous You.” I’ve been a big fan of Doonan’s for years, and after skimming his newest book I can already tell I’m really going to enjoy it. (Do make a point to check out his interview with Madonna in Elle magazine this month… it’s great!)

Doonan was at Barney’s at Union Square yesterday signing copies of the book for quite a few hours, with partner Jonathan Adler standing by (you know him from his gorgeous Pacific Heights shop, and his various TV appearances as style arbiter.)

Adler and Doonan, shown above in an adorable 1988 photo I found on Doonan’s site, are a powerhouse duo of design and advice, with overlapping projects (Adler has also published a book, and his decor is available at Barney’s!)

I snapped this blurry photo of Doonan and my good friend Ricky Serbin, the vintage clothing dealer, at the signing myself. As you can see, there is a very good reason why SFluxe relies on the talents of people like Drew Altizer and Thomas Gibbons for the site’s photography!
