This Thursday, June 19th, is the 2008 Bachelor auction (http://www.guardsmen4sale.com/), to be held at Ruby Skye. This year’s auction will feature a finalist on Bravo’s Top Chef, a former NFL quarterback, doctors, standouts in finance and business, and a trio of firemen—all donating their time for this local worthwhile cause.
“Last year we had more than 1200 people attend the Bachelor Auction and raised more than $70,000 to help at-risk Bay Areayouth,” said Anupam Dalal, Chairman of the 2008 Guardsmen Bachelor Auction. “This year we will again give the …

SFLuxe gets easily lost when venturing south of San Francisco. Our two main reference points are Susan of Burlingame and Neiman Marcus of Stanford. Anything else, and it’s just not on our radar.
We were pleased to see that some of our favorite people have the Palo Alto Neiman Marcus on their radar as well. Recently some Silicon Valley stylemakers (such as Orkut Buyukkokten, Jini Kim, Derek Holbrook, shown above) stopped by the store for a preview of the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2008 collection.
The event was held by …

Contrary to what the British tabloids have reported, David Beckham did not buy wife Victoria a vineyard for her birthday last month.
While the couple are said to be looking for a large wine country property to purchase later in the year, what David DID buy his wine-loving wife (and we mean that in the nicest way… we’re fans ourselves!) is a membership in the super-exclusive “Napa Valley Reserve Club.”
The Reserve (shown above) was featured recently in The Robb Report. Here’s what they have to say:
“The Napa Valley Reserve offers the …

So here’s the deal. If you go to Macy’s Men’s Store on Monday June 9th (that’s today, folks!) and are among the first 175 people to buy $200 or more of Emporio Armani Men’s Underwear on the first floor, and then come BACK to the store on June 18th you will get to meet David Beckham in person at the Union Square Park and get his autograph that day.
Got it?
But if you REALLY wanted to spend some personal time with him, I suppose you could just spend $35,000 on …

One of our favorite FOSFL’s (Friend-of-SFLuxe, darling!) stopped by the festive Duke Et Duchess opening party on May 29 and reported back with rave reviews.
Paolo Iantorno, Irja Carrie, Fernando Barahona
Owners Paolo Iantorno and Fernando Barahona (Architectural Developer & Designer of the space) were all smiles as they welcomed the more than 300 revelers onto the lavish red carpet and into the hip boutique. Paolo and Fernando are local philanthropists with a special angle dedicated, we are told, towards a very favorite Bay Area charity organization…but more on that a little …

When I showed this beautiful Scott Street condo, facing Alta Plaza Park, to a client in April, I knew immediately that it would sell quickly. And indeed it did. Within days it sold for $2,170,000 — almost $200,000 more than the asking price (and $1,080,000 more than it sold for in July 2005.)
What I didn’t know was just how horrible the place looked before it had been renovated, and what a truly remarkable job the designer had done.
This month, “California Home+Design” has featured the home in its pages. …

This week I was asked by “Hint Magazine” to write a tribute to the designer Yves Saint Laurent, who recently died in Paris after a long illness. It was my pleasure to recall my early interest in the legendary designer’s career, and his tremendous influence on my life. I am just one of so many people worldwide who have mourned the loss of this great artist. You can read it at this link.
In digging through my files, I found this photo of Ivana Trump wearing Yves Saint Laurent …
