Fierce Fashion Angel

SFLuxe is mad for the frisky kitten style of one of San Francisco’s most enthusiastic fashionistas, Angel Susinzo.  Ms. Susinzo originally came to our attention when she showed up at the Prada opening in the very latest Prada look — and totally pulled it off.  We then noticed that she has a blog where she writes about some of her favorite things, which includes these amazing YSL shoes.
“The heels are 10.5″, which is supposed to be really hard to walk on,” she says, “But since there are a couple of …

Fashion at Pebble Beach

We checked in with vintage clothing dealer Ricky Serbin and found out he recently attended the Lexus Fashion Preview at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the beautiful Monterey Peninsula! He was there with Vogue’s Sally Singer, host of the event.  We’re so jealous!

Sally Singer and Ricky Serbin
“The fashion show was great, stronger than usual. I think after three years they are really getting the show to super, Vogue-worth perfection,” says Ricky, who is the only west coast CFDA member to go to the event each year (the CFDA is …

Buoyant and Lively Summer

As my friend Laura Albert recently commented: “Something has been surpassed, and there’s no turning back.”
She was referring to the cultural shift that has taken place since marriage equality for the LGBT community has started to become a reality across the state and beyond, beginning in this very city.
Indeed, throughout San Francisco in recent months, one notices a renewed enthusiasm among gays and lesbians.  You could see it, for instance, at the packed screenings of Geoff Callan’s film “The Pursuit of Equality,” at the beginning of the year.  Then, in …

Celebrating Luda!

As we always enjoy seeing Ludmilla Eggleton, we were so disappointed that we couldn’t make it to her recent birthday party at Cassis.  We’re told that the French food was delicious, and the company divine!

Magdalene Chan (the artist), Ludmila Eggleton, and Conchita Applegate, who is running for the California State Assembly, District 12.
There were more than 40 guests at the celebration, including folks such as Alan Malouf, Beth Townsend, Tanya and Henry Phillips, Xenia Stepanidou (the Consul General of Greece), and Conchita Applegate with her banker husband Bill Applegate.

Ludmilla with …

The Persian Superguru

There’s an intriguing profile of yogi Cameron Alborzian in this month’s “Elle.”  One of the major male models of the ’90s (he even appeared as Madonna’s muscled worker drone in the “Express Yourself” video - see below), he now travels the world teaching yoga and Ayurveda.

Cameron is truly an international man.  Born in Tehran (Iran), schooled in Ayurvedic medicine in Kerala (India), and currently maintaining residences in Madrid, London, Los Angeles, New York and Paris — he will be in San Francisco this month for an appearance at the Green …

Penn Home on Market

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the home of Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn has been put on the market for $15 million.
The Penns bought the 2.2-acre property, located at 7 Laurel Grove Avenue in Ross, for $2.1 million.  They spent two years renovating the 1933, the Spanish-style house, according to their Coldwell Banker broker John McGeough.
The Journal says that “The 10,000-square-foot house was designed with hand-hewn wood-beamed ceilings and floors, stone fireplaces and hand-painted tiles in the bathrooms and kitchen. The two-story home has five bedrooms, a …

SF Hearts Prada

Orkut Buyukkokten’s “I (Heart) Prada” shirt said it all — and he wasn’t the only one. Politicians, tech titans, philanthropists, fashionistas, the newly pregnant, the about-to-be-married, the just-divorced, new money, old money, hardly any money at all… they all crowded into the big, gorgeous new Prada store on Maiden Lane last week to show their love.

Orkut Buyukkokten with partner Derek Holbrook
There were the ladies brave enough to wear Prada to a Prada opening, and the ladies brave enough not to wear Prada — confusing, we know, but that’s fashion …
