Lily Samii’s Week

{ Published on   3 September 2008  }

We are told that the following people will be wearing gowns by local designer Lily Samii to the Symphony and Opera galas this week (September 3rd and 5th, 2008.)

Symphony:

Gretchen Kimball of San Francisco, Honorary Chair of the Symphony: Ms. Kimball will be adorning a black duchess satin gown with an exquisite black lace bolero. The gown has a full train held up by layers of tulle that will float with her down the red carpet.

Ruth Ma of San Francisco: Ms. Ma will be wearing a chocolate duchess satin strapless gown accented with pumpkin duchess satin and a double sided shawl.

Anita Wornick of San Francisco: Ms. Wornick will be wearing a 2 piece copper taffeta gown with matching jacket.

Patricia Pope of San Francisco: Ms. Pope will be wearing an imperial yellow strapless gown with a ruched waistline and a silk chiffon imperial yellow shrug.

Opera:

Karen Caldwell of St. Helena: This year, Karen Caldwell’s dress is all about the 3 C’s: Concept, Color and Cut. Inspired by the magnificent dahlia flower and a pair of vintage turquoise earrings that Ms. Caldwell will be wearing, Lily Samii has designed a v-neck silk jersey gown accented with crystal pleated silk chiffon, leading the eye from her shoulders down to her waist where the chiffon converges. More pleated chiffon wraps her waist and intersects at the small of her back where a hand made stone medallion sits at the top of a pleated chiffon waterfall which cascades down to the floor. This is a silently dramatic and powerful gown that you will not want to miss!

Linda Kemper of San Francisco: Ms. Kemper will be wearing a strapless pouf gown with an empire waist cut made in royal violet taffeta and embellished with black lace and tulle. The gown is accompanied by a taffeta bolero of the same fabric.

Barbara Rosenberg of San Francisco: Ms. Rosenberg will be wearing a candy pumpkin organza coat with embroidered borders over an espresso silk crepe gown.

Patricia Pope of San Francisco: Ms. Pope will be wearing an imperial yellow strapless gown with a ruched waistline and a silk chiffon imperial yellow shrug.

Brenda MacLean of Marin: Ms. MacLean will be wearing a misty green chiffon gown with gold feather embroidery and handkerchief detailing.

We can’t wait to see them all come down the Red Carpet!
