Universal Shuffles 2009 Schedule
For San Francisco film lovers, we are pleased to present this story from “The Moving Picture.”
Universal Pictures has made some changes to its 2009 release schedule, moving up Fast and Furious, pushing back The Wolf Man, a move that was rumored last week, and taken Ridley Scott’s Nottingham out of 2009 entirely.
Fast and Furious will now open on April 3, instead of June 12. The flick is the fourth in the series and reunites Vin Diesel Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster.
The Wolf Man, a remake of the classic horror film starring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving, was originally scheduled to open in the April 3rd slot, but will now hit theaters November 6.
Scott’s Nottingham, a retelling of the Robin Hood tale starring Russell Crowe and Sienna Miller, will open in 2010. A specific date hasn’t been set yet.
The studio said the reshuffling was the sensible thing to do, considering that Fast and Furious is complete, while the Brian Grazer-produced Nottingham won’t start filming until February or March. The Wolf Man move gives the film more of a high-profile release, as well as more time for post-production.
