Carla Gugino is the New Elektra
For San Francisco film lovers, we are pleased to present this story from “The Moving Picture.”
No, not this one. Carla Gugino (Sin City) is set to star in Elektra Luxx, an indie flick from Writer-director Sebastian Gutierrez.
The film is a sequel to Gutierrez’s upcoming 2009 feature, Women in Trouble, an ensemble comedy about one day in the lives of 10 Los Angeles women that has yet to find distribution. Gugino stars in Women along with Emmanuelle Chriqui, Adrianne Palicki, Marley Shelton, Connie Britton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Simon Baker.
Elektra Luxx picks up a month later, again covering a full day. The title character is a porn star whose life is turned upside down when she discovers she’s pregnant.
Tim Olyphant, Alicia Silverstone and Justin Kirk have signed on to play characters in Luxx, and many of the actors from the first film are reprising their roles.
Gutierrez, who directed the vampire flick Rise and wrote The Eye, Snakes on a Plane and Gothika, is already planning a third installment in the Luxx series, tentatively titled Women in Ecstasy.
