A Wrestler Joins Stallone’s Expendables
For San Francisco film lovers, we are pleased to present this story from “The Moving Picture.”

Right now, on paper, Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables is shaping up to be a great film. The trades are reporting that Mickey Rourke, whose coming off his best performance of his career in The Wrestler, has just joined the action flick.
The ensemble cast already includes Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lungdren, Robert Knepper and Forest Whitaker. Ben Kingsley was also rumored to be joining earlier this week.
The Expendables centers on a group of mercenaries who are sent to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator to liberate the population. Their team is “expendable,” hired to do jobs that no one else can or will.
Rourke will play an unscrupulous arms dealer who becomes the go-to guy for a group of mercenaries planning to topple a South American dictator.
There’s a lot of great talent involved with this project, hopefully it turns out great. It starts production in Brazil in March.
