For San Francisco film lovers, we are pleased to present this story from “The Moving Picture.”

The folks over at i09 have scored three pieces of concept art from the upcoming reboot of Judge Dredd, the character from 2000 AD Comics made partially famous by the 1995 Sylvester Stallone flick. The project was announced a few weeks back and is being developed by DNA Films – their credits include Danny Boyle’s Sunshine and The Last King of Scotland. A 2009 start date is being eyed.

The character is a law enforcement officer in Mega City, a violent city of the future where uniformed Judges combine the powers of police, judge, jury and executioner. Dredd and his fellow Judges are empowered to arrest, sentence and even execute criminals on the spot.
