“Contract Let for Nob Hill Apartments: Building on Powell and Sacramento Streets Will be Ten Stories”

A contract was let this week by the Sacramento Powell company, of which A. C. Blumenthal is president, for the construction of the new Francesca Apartments at the north-east corner of Sacramento and Powell streets.

The building was designed by G. Albert Lansburgh and MacDonald & Couchot, associated architects, and the contract for construction was let to MacDonald & Kahn.

This building, which is a ten-story, riveted steel, class A. fireproof apartment house,  will consist of about 225 rooms, divided into large residence apartments.  The total investment will represent about $750,000.

Last Word In Apartments

This building will represent the last word in modern apartment house construction, and will consist of 4, 6, 7 and 8-room apartments, all bedrooms having separate baths.  There will be private elevators for each apartment and no hallways of any kind.  The building will be completely equipped with incinerators and service elevators and the best accommodations possible for servants’ quarters.  Also the building will be wired for radio phone equipment.  In fact, every known modern comfort will be installed.

Wonderful Sea View

The site of the Francesca apartment building on Nob Hill allows a wonderful marine view for most of the apartments.  It is directly across the street from the Fairmont Hotel, and although only a few minutes walk from the downtown business and retails centers, has excellent transportation facilities.

A. C. Blumenthal & Co., who are the exclusive renting agents for the apartment,  state that excavation will commence on this building within two weeks and it should be completed and open to the public in about nine months.
