A Crown Jewel of Nob Hill

The talented team of architect Andrew Skurman and designer Suzanne Tucker worked with the owner to create this stunning residence in one of San Francisco’s most prestigious buildings: 1001 California.

Built in 1914, the stunning example of Beaux Arts classical architecture is one of the crown jewels of Nob Hill.

The gorgeous full-floor condominium at 1001 California has soaring ceilings, luscious reclaimed oak floors and numerous French doors framing the quintessential Nob Hill views.

The oval and curved theme of the building is carried into the home with a round foyer, which was inspired by an 18th century room in the Musee Carnavalet in Paris.

When Skurman and Tucker renovated the residence they replaced everything. “There’s no one square inch of what was there before,” according to Skurman, in an article that “Architectural Digest” published about the place.

“We replaced everything. We took away all the existing walls.  We even put new moldings around the exterior doors,” he said.
