Derek Besenfelder

As Derek Besenfelder and his glamorous projects are featured frequently at San Francisco Luxury Living, we’d like to take a moment to introduce you to him.

After a 2-year stint in Los Angeles, Derek’s altruistic nature and passion for philanthropy recently brought him back to the San Francisco Bay Area. His love for events, public relations and marketing is apparent, as he puts his heart and soul into any and all of his projects.

Upon graduating from UC Santa Barbara, Derek began his career assisting in Westfield Inc.’s San Francisco Centre’s $440 million dollar expansion. He later served as one of the Company’s Regional Assistant Marketing Directors in Los Angeles.

After leaving Westfield, Derek transitioned to the entertainment industry and focused on event planning, design and production when he joined Bolthouse Productions. As the Executive Assistant to Brent Bolthouse, Derek coordinated and assisted with the production of numerous events for leading companies such as Maxim, T-Mobile, Victoria’s Secret, DirecTV, Showtime and NBC. At Bolthouse, Derek was also responsible for coordinating all office filming for the MTV’s hit show, The Hills.

Following his time at Bolthouse, Derek accepted a position as Director of Communications for Harvard-trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Rajesh Chopra. His responsibilities included handling the logistics for all marketing initiatives, press, public relations and office / client events.

Presently, Derek Besenfelder is working for Image Three Inc, an event design and production company responsible for crafting an unparalleled level of events that has revolutionized the industry, not only in the San Francisco Bay Area, but across the country and abroad for over two decades.

Clients include McAfee, Oracle, Autodesk, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Claremont Hotel, and Trader Vic’s, among other corporate, political and private clients. In the little time that Derek has been back in San Francisco, he has coordinated several fabulous events, including celebrity photographer Adam Bouska’s San Francisco NOH8 Campaign photo shoot, a Style Showcase featuring designers Elaine Kim and Kendall Conrad and last summer’s posh pool party – Summer Splash.

Additionally, Derek Besenfelder is a PR and marketing consultant, with extensive contacts in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Recent projects include securing product placement in the 2009 MTV Video Music Award talent / celebrity gift bags and getting merchandise into the hands of Hollywood celebrities for photo opportunities.

Those that know Derek Besenfelder are not afraid to ask him for help, especially if it is for charity. Derek sits on several committees and is affiliated with many organizations, including amfAR, Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, The Richmond Ermet Aids Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Raphael House, Amigos de las Americas, StartOut, NOH8 Campaign, and DIFFA.

To assist with charitable needs is nothing new for him — Derek has been involved with community services his entire life.  Some of his earliest memories include answering the phone for the local teen crisis hotline, serving meals at St. Anthony’s and Glide Memorial, spending a summer in Paraguay with Amigos de las Americas and mission trips to Mexico with his church youth group.

Derek Besenfelder was born in San Francisco and moved with his family at the age of two to Lafayette, where his family still resides. He has also lived on the East coast and in Southern California.
