A Tranquil View from the Third Floor

Cecilie Starin, who is designing the Au Pair room, recently wrote an excellent piece about the home’s architect, Albert Farr. She notes that the home, built in 1929, “is reminiscent of the style of Henry IV at Place de Voges. The red brick structure, trimmed in stone, is topped by a steeply pitched slate roof. The symmetrical front obscures what appears to be an earlier Norman manor on the uphill side. There are turrets, multiple dormers and roof details.”

She says that “It has large interior public spaces and high ceilings, both features often seen in Farr homes. He gave special attention to the third level of homes that was often left as undeveloped attic space and he did this at 3450 Washington.”

As we await the “big reveal” a few designers have released photos showing some of the work that’s being done. Very exciting stuff!
