Chanel recently hosted a luncheon and fashion show of the Cruise 2011/2012 collection at the beautiful Atherton home of Bita Daryabari and Reza Malek.
Bita was joined by co-hosts Sloan Barnett, Juliet de Baubigny and Vanessa Getty in welcoming just over 100 guests to the special showing, which took place on the newly built entertainment quarters of her and her husband’s estate.

Chanel was so meticulous in recreating the scene of the original May 2011 showing of the collection, held at Cap d’Antibes, that they even used the same chairs and white umbrellas.
“I’m sure Karl Lagerfeld would be pleased to see his recent creations viewed in the perfect setting we have here today,” remarked Erica Kasel, Chanel’s Vice President of marketing.

The guest list included some of the Bay Area’s most elegant women, such as Afsaneh Akhtari, Sarvi Asemi, Pam Baer, Sybilla Balleantski, Kathy Bamdad, Saba Bassiri, Toni Berlinger, Carol Bonnie, Vandy Boudreau, Barbara Brown, Paula Carano, Joyce Clark, Jennifer Crane, Karen Debeer, Susan Dunlevy, Angela Fung, Emma Goltz, Angelique Griepp, Jenna Hunt, Nahal Iravani-Sani, Kathryn Lasater, Suzanne Levit, Penelope Murray, Farah Naimi, Joyce Okano, Deepa Pakianathan, Grace Pen, Jennifer Raiser, Fariba Rezvani, Jacqueline Sacks, Sobia Shaikh, Kathy Snodgrass, Karen Sonneborn, Barbara Sonsini, Christine Suppes, Iwona Tenzing, Dorothy Torresi, Micki Turner, Elizabeth Varnell, Grace Yang, Ann Waterman and Shannon Wong, among others.
Visiting from the East Coast were Ghislaine Maxwell, Derek Blasberg and Lyle Maltz. Blasberg had seen many of the same people the night before, when Vanessa Getty and Alexis Traina welcomed him to San Francisco for the launch of his new book, “Very Classy.” Both events were overseen by Allison Speer, who has an amazing knack at bringing together the right mix of people for an event.

While San Francisco hasn’t yet had the opportunity to welcome Lagerfeld himself, Chanel has had a big presence in the City for quite some time.
“It has been such an exciting few years for Chanel in San Francisco,” said Kasel, “from our renovation and reopening of the boutique in 2009, to last year’s Secrets of the Chanel Handbag event, to this, and to next year’s support of the Fine Arts Museums.”
Indeed, Kasel announced that Chanel will be a major supporter of the Fine Arts Museums 2012 Mid Winter Gala, which will take place March 10, 2012! We’re not exactly saying one should wear Chanel that evening… but really, why wear anything else?
