Please join Care Through Action’s for a unique and elegant fundraising dinner on Wednesday February 15th, 2012 at the award-winning restaurant Dosa on Fillmore.  Hosting the event are Alexander Lloyd, Claudia Ross, Howard Cheng, Jude Vargas, Kristen Green, Sunil Daluvoy.

Care Through Action was started by photojournalist Alissa Everett to raise awareness of Human Rights Issues through dramatic documentary photography.  Currently the foundation’s focus for giving is on the Congo, and 100% of the proceeds from the benefit will support their on-going partnership with HEAL Africa in the Congo, who every day change the lives of women who have been victims of violence.  Several safe houses are operated where women can go to rebuild their lives, find community, and learn new skills like sewing, basket weaving or bread making.  The women are also offered micro loans that can be used to start a business and become self-sufficient.

The evening that celebrates spreading love across the globe will be replete with fine food and libations, musical stylings by DJ Subwoofr aka Sunwoo and amazing photographic images from the Congo by Alissa Everett.

This is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of St. Valentine, whose love and kindness supported those who were persecuted centuries ago, by giving to those who are suffering a similar fate today in the Congo, a war-torn country whose women and children are its greatest victims.  Tickets can be purchased through Care Through Action.
