DAVID Cameron yesterday vowed prisoners will NEVER get the vote while he is PM.

The tough message was a humiliating slap-down for the Government’s top law officer, Attorney General Dominic Grieve.
It also puts Britain on a collision course with European judges in Strasbourg, who claim our ban on lags voting breaks human rights laws.
The Commons voted by an overwhelming 234 to 22 last year to back the ban on prisoner votes.
Mr Cameron delighted Tory MPs yesterday by insisting he will not back down to the European Court of Human Rights.
He told the Commons during PM’s Questions: “No one should be in any doubt — prisoners are not getting the vote under this Government.
“The House of Commons has voted against prisoners having the vote, I don’t want prisoners to have the vote and they should not have the vote. If it helps by having another vote in Parliament on another resolution to make absolutely clear — to help put the legal position beyond doubt — I am very happy to do that.”
His uncompromising message was a stinging rebuke to Mr Grieve, who had claimed Britain would have to fall in line. Appearing before a committee of MPs just two hours before PM’s Questions, the Attorney General argued Britain’s international reputation would be damaged if it defied Strasbourg.
Mr Grieve told the MPs: “Parliament is sovereign in this area — nobody can impose a solution on Parliament. But the accepted practice is that the United Kingdom observes its international obligations.”
Strasbourg gave the UK a six-month deadline to come up with a solution, which runs out on November 22.
No 10 said yesterday that Ministers are still trying to find the best way to deliver the PM’s pledge that prisoners will not get the vote. There are fears if Ministers bungle the decision thousands of lags could use the Strasbourg ruling to sue for compensation.
