Microsoft Surface Touch Cover appears to be breaking

Microsoft’s newly-released Surface tablet has seen some accessory problems. There have been some recent reports of the Touch Cover for the Surface breaking.

Accounts of the Touch Cover (that snappy cover featured in the latest Microsoft Surface TV advertisements) breaking apart at the edges are coming to light. This is not a good thing as the advertisement shows everyone slapping and snapping the covers on and off from the Surface tablet.

On top of this, Microsoft is saying that the Surface is “Timeless. Tough.” They go on to say “One touch and you’ll recognize the thoughtful design and precision craftsmanship that make Surface a joy to behold.” Maybe the Surface is tough, but the Touch Cover seems to be lacking this durability.

Microsoft has recognized that they do have a serious problem and appear to be practicing the mantra of “The customer is always right” at least for this particular problem. They are replacing any Touch Cover that breaks. And, they are replacing it for free.

As if this problem wasn’t enough, there are reports of audio stuttering on the Surface. This seems to be an intermittent problem and could be caused by any number of things. The solution could lie in either the hardware of software, although not everyone is seeing this problem.
