Yaseen Ege (South Wales Police) A woman who killed her seven-year-old son after he failed to memorise extracts from the Koran has been found guilty of murder. Sara Ege, 33, beat her son Yaseen to death with a stick at their home in Cardiff in July 2010 then set fire to his body in an attempt to get rid of the evidence. It was originally thought that the seven-year-old died in a fire at the family home in Pontcanna. His mother was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice at Cardiff crown court. She will return to court in the New Year to be sentenced.

She was at home with her husband, Joseph Kerger , a novelist, when about 30 minutes into the debate Romney took aim at a certain yellow-feathered friend of millions of American children.

Lou Grant may have famously hated spunk, but Ed Asner still has plenty of it. The former “Mary Tyler Moore Show” star is ruffling feathers among conservative commentators over an eight-minute cartoon he narrated for the California Federation of Teachers. The cartoon, called “Tax the Rich: An Animated Fairy Tale,” borrows from the Occupy Wall Street school of snarky activism, calling out the richest one percent of Americans for their role in the nation’s increasing wealth disparity. In the video, Asner playfully points to a time in our not so distant past when the labor movement fostered a strong middle class and subsequent economic growth. Fast-forward to today, Asner says in the video, and the “towers of money” built by avaricious rich folk have collapsed, leaving lower- and middle-income Americans scrambling to pick up the pieces while the rich get a government bailout and keep getting richer.    “In 20 years, rich people doubled their share of the land’s income,” Asner says in the cartoon.
