TRI Coldwell Banker’s Barbara Klein and Joel Goodrich recently hosted a small luncheon at the Fairmont Hotel’s elegant Laurel Court Restaurant for I. Dolly Lenz, the Vice Chairman of Douglas Elliman in New York.
Dolly, a frequent guest on CNBC and Fox News, is an industry legend, having sold more than $8.5 billion in real estate during her career, more than double the next top agent in the country. Her clients have ranged from some of the biggest names in entertainment, such as Mariah Carey, Billy Joel, Karl Lagerfeld and Barbra Streisand, to top leaders in international business and finance.

Guests included Nob Hill Gazette publisher Lois Lehrman, restaurateur Jorge Maumer, real estate developer Mark Calvano, Fairmont Hotel’s Senior Vice President Thomas Klein, Old Republic’s Kristin Therre, SFLuxe’s Damion Matthews, and Chandler Properties founder, Carolyn Chandler.
Not surprisingly, the big topic of conversation was real estate, with Dolly and Joel representing premiere listings on both coasts: Dolly with the penthouse at the Sherry Netherland in New York for $95 million, Joel with the Tobin Clark Estate in Hillsborough for $29 million, and Tiburon’s iconic Nirvana House with Barbara Klein.

Some of Dolly’s other listings include an eight-floor loft building in Greenwich Village for $138,800,000, a gorgeous five-story townhouse off of Park Avenue for $12,495,000, and a chic Park Avenue one-bedroom for $995,000, among others.

Dolly was in San Francisco with husband Aaron Lenz as part of a speaking tour throughout the West Coast, where she met with leading brokers and agents in Seattle and Los Angeles, as well as San Francisco.
While here, The Luxury Marketing Council of San Francisco presented a fascinating Charlie Rose-type discussion between her and Alf Nucifora before an assemblage of the Bay Area’s most successful real estate agents at the Council’s 8th Annual Alpha Agents event. In a rapid fire conversation she shared highlights from her career and gave insight into the New York real estate world.

One topic of conversation that’s always amusing is Dolly’s love of her Blackberrys. At one point in her career, according to Forbes, she had 12 of them! And it seems that if she’s not using it to communicate with clients, she’s a power user of Twitter ( @IDollyLenz ), where she keeps a lively exchange with followers and expounds on topics like exercise, media, business and, of course, housing.

During her visit to San Francisco Dolly looked at all the major listings in the Bay Area, from Marin to the Peninsula. She later spoke about the experience on MSNBC’s Jansing & Co. “The San Francisco market is on fire!” she said. “I just came back from San Francisco, I toured properties with the top brokers in the area, and I have to tell you every open house we went to there were bids. Bid after bid after bid.”
